Twin Lakes Food Bank provides food and clothing to numerous families. They require canned and packaged foods and invite volunteers to participate for even a day—if not more. They have an upcoming Thanksgiving Turkey and Trimmings Give Away on November 25th, 2013 from 8:30 am - 11:30am where families are provided with a turkey and a bag of all the extra trimmings for their Thanksgiving Dinner to residents of Folsom, Orangevale, El Dorado Hills and Granite Bay. Placer Food Bank, 8284 Industrial Ave., Roseville
Placer food Bank supplies food to a network of hunger-relief agencies and charitable organizations in Placer and El Dorado counties. They accept food donations in the form of perishable and non-perishable items—the list of which you can find on their website, and also ask for other donations such as used or unwanted vehicles, payroll deductions, and services such a volunteering and holding a food drive. Orangevale food bank, 6483 Main Ave., Orangevale
Orangevale Food Bank organizes weekend food drives and monthly groceries for those in need. They also ask for student volunteers, delivery truck drivers, and harvest helpers among others, and request donations of canned goods and fresh fruits and vegetables. Every year, they partner with multiple organizations in the area to provide hundreds of families with a boxed Thanksgiving dinner, and they will need volunteers to help prepare the boxes and pass out turkeys. The El Dorado County food Bank is a collaborative network of local charities that serve throughout El Dorado County. They accept food donations in the form of perishable and non-perishable goods, and invite you to organize a food or fund drive, volunteer in multiple ways and donate via PayPal or stocks and securities. Sunrise Christian Food Ministry, 5901 San Juan Avenue, Citrus Heights
Sunrise Christian Food Ministry serves food to multiple families every week and operates in Citrus Heights and Orangevale. They are collecting items such as cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, green beans, yams and pumpkin pie mixes as part of their Thanksgiving Holiday Meal Food Drive, meant for the less fortunate. Abundant Life Church, 706 Atlantic St., Roseville
The Helping Hands Program at Abundant Life Church, distributes food and clothing to those in need every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Every year they also distribute Christmas Baskets to the needy. They ask for non-perishable food or clothing and extra hands. For more, visit alfchurch.org.
The Salt Mine, 590 G St., Lincoln
The Salt Mine conducts a feeding program that provides a food box that will feed a needy family for a week and also offer emergency food once a month. They also distribute “a truck load of food” on Thursdays and Saturdays. They need donations and volunteers and you can help out by visiting thesaltmine.org
Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 503 Giuseppe Court, Suite 8, Roseville
St. Vincent de Paul’s Roseville’s Food Locker invites families from Placer County to come in for groceries once every 30 days.
