Have some time on your hands and a desire to give back to the community?
Folsom Parks and Recreation offers a variety of volunteer opportunities via their special events and facilities.
Roll up your sleeves for some hard work and fun in the great outdoors at the 20th Annual Trails Day on April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. This year’s event will focus on the area surrounding the Hinkle Creek Nature Center. Volunteers will assist with putting the final touches on a bike/pedestrian bridge that spans the creek, and help to realign the existing trail to connect with the new bridge. Receive a free lunch and commemorative T-shirt. To register (ages 16+), call 916-355-7285.
Amgen Tour of California – Stage 2
On May 12, the world’s best professional cyclists, both men and women, will race against the clock on the scenic time trial course through Folsom. Volunteers (ages 18+) are needed to serve as course marshals to keep the roads clear of pedestrians, spectators and cars, and to inform spectators of the race status. Receive a commemorative T-shirt and swag bag, plus be a part of Folsom history! To register, visit amgentourofcalifornia.com and click on the “volunteers” tab.
