El Dorado Hills resident Anson Wong started playing the violin at age 12,

but gave up his musical ambitions to pursue a career in business—a choice he never regretted, although he secretly hoped that someday he would be able to return to music full-time. When Wong’s success in finance and marketing enabled him to retire at the age of 42, he decided it was high time he returned to playing the violin.

Now a married father of two, he spends a great deal of time supporting his two daughters, who are both avid basketball players. He also became board vice president of the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation, and co-founded the El Dorado Hills All Net Girls AAU Basketball Club, an organization that gives local girls (including his own) more opportunities to compete.

Returning to his musical dreams, he joined the Folsom Symphony and currently serves as the nonprofit’s vice president of business operations. Their aim is simple: to introduce area residents to the artistry and beauty of classical music. In the future, Wong hopes the symphony will be able to offer free concerts at local schools. “Classical music is so special to me,” Wong shares. “It’s really important to expose people to it…to make the community a better place to live.”
