Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I was working as a radio DJ with a bachelor’s degree in communications when my father-in-law, a successful local asphalt contractor, suggested I go into the asphalt business. Asphalt maintenance as a career had never crossed my mind, but the more I got to know about the industry and the perks of being a business owner, the more it appealed to me. I worked on my father-in-law’s crew for a few summers to learn the basics and soon had my own small sealcoat tank. I studied to get my engineering contractor’s license, and before I knew it I was a self-employed contractor. Sixteen-plus years later, and I am so happy he convinced me to start my own business, not to mention I’m thankful I’m able to work for myself and own a small business in Roseville.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
What sets AC Asphalt apart from other, larger companies is the personalized service and interaction we offer our customers. I take pride in bidding on projects, as well as being on the job when the project is being completed. I’m a very hands-on owner and this helps to ensure high-quality work.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
Khobkoon Thai Cuisine on Foothills Boulevard. I eat there at least once a week. Having traveled to Thailand, I can tell you that this place is authentic! The owner is very friendly, too.
What’s your favorite local business other than your own?
NAPA Auto Care/Bill McAnally Racing is an awesome local business. They service all of my company and personal vehicles, do great work and are honest.
And finally, customer service is…?
The most important thing to any successful business. Outstanding customer service is what keeps my clients coming back year after year. We strive to change that “contractor stereotype” and give excellent customer service. We are thrilled to have a long list of happy customers that continue to call us back to service their asphalt needs.
