Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I always wanted to own my own salon, but with two young children it seemed impossible. Studio 55 offers me a wonderful balance of having my own small studio with other professionals around me; it’s a perfect fit.
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
I was a secretary for some family friends, and I learned that things needed to be done correctly and carefully. Maybe this is where I found my obsession with detail.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
I recently spoke at a local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, talking about everyday hair challenges and creative styling tips. I also have started my own YouTube channel where I post videos with styling tips for my clients.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
Dena – my friend and owner of the salon where I worked for nine years. She is a talented hairstylist, leads by example as an owner, is an amazing wife and mother, and has been an incredible mentor to me in business and in life. I hope to find the balance in my life that she seems to have mastered.
What’s your biggest job perk?
I love that I can make someone not only look better, but feel better about themselves than when they walked in the door. The lifelong friendships I develop with my clients are also pretty amazing, as is continuing my education with other hairstylists in cities like San Francisco, New York and Las Vegas. Most days I feel lucky to get paid for what I do.
What’s your favorite local event that you go to?
I recently ran the “Hot Pink 5K” at The Fountains at Roseville and loved it!

Easy and natural when you’re in the right business.
