Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I was a senior loan consultant and my father-in-law was battling cancer when I decided to become a supplement insurance agent. Seeing how the supplemental insurance helped our family was all it took for me to get my license and start my career on July 26, 2006.
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
My first job was selling subscriptions over the phone for a Jewish newspaper at age 14. I learned I had a gift for communicating, but sales means a lot of rejection so I learned not to take it personally when someone says no.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
I served as vice president in my neighborhood association for two years, and I volunteer with the Rotary Club of Citrus Heights.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
My mother – she has a strong work ethic and was very unconventional in her choice of careers; in addition, she taught me to take pride in every job I do and that I could be unconventional, too.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
I go to the gym – nothing is better than a hard workout to get those “feel good” endorphins flowing again.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Having the freedom to set my own schedule and spend quality time with family and friends, because at this stage of my life that is what’s most important to me.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Getting the citizenship award in sixth grade, thanks to the outstanding support from the most wonderful teacher I’ve ever had.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Katharine Hepburn – she embodied the strong female role model with wit and class.
And finally, customer service is…?
Consistently going above and beyond to exceed expectations.
