Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I definitely found my business. For over 17 years, I have been practicing obstetrics and gynecology. The last 10 years have been in Wisconsin. Recently, I relocated here with my family after a careful search for a growing, vibrant community with wonderful weather; Roseville fit the bill! I am an independent physician, which affords me the ability to control my day so that I am able to spend time with my patients.
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
Other than babysitting, my first real job was cleaning horse stalls. I learned the value of hard work and responsibility.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
Of course I am proud of all the hard work I did to become a physician, but I have to say that being a wife and mother has been extremely rewarding for me. Also, as a child I was never a big athlete, so being able to complete a marathon and some triathlons were huge accomplishments for me!
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
Some of my favorites include Hawks, BJ’s Brewhouse and Priya Indian Cuisine.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Spending time with my Oma (German nickname for “Grandma”). She was an unbelievably kind person and spent time with me doing simple things like baking cookies and going to the zoo. She was a nurse and after she died, I learned that she was actually a labor and delivery nurse. When I was 10, I was admitted to the hospital where she had worked for many years. When the staff found out that I was her granddaughter, they went out of their way to make my parents and I feel comfortable. My Oma’s kindness and hard work left a lasting impression on me.
And finally, customer service is…?
In medicine, it is listening to, caring for and educating your patients.
