Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
We are a part-time family-run home-based natural dog treat and handcrafted gift business. We seemed to have found each other, actually. We had just adopted our family dog and he needed treats as a reward for being good, so we started baking with items we already had in the pantry and it grew from there.
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
Woolworth Inc., a five-and-ten cent retail store. We definitely learned the value of good customer service and the experience of enjoying meeting a great variety of people.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
Because we care and have taken the time to listen to what our customers want and need. We aren’t the type of business who slaps a product out without caring what goes into it or caring about the canine customer we sell to.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
Home – being around family and friends makes everything better. They give you the support you need to make it through.
What’s your hidden talent?
We have no secrets. Our business has been built on our talent.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Getting to meet so many great dogs and their owners.
What’s your favorite local business other than your own?
Definitely the SPCA for what they do and what they stand for; it’s also where we adopted our family dog Rudy. You can’t be a pet lover and not appreciate that.
If you could be in any other profession what would it be?
Anything in the hospitality industry.
And finally, customer service is…?
Absolutely number one. A dissatisfied customer is one that doesn’t come back for more.
