Describe the business.

Roseville Community School (RCS) is a parent-participation, K-6 private school that strives to educate and support students to become confident, compassionate people who will be the thinkers, dreamers and doers of tomorrow.

How are you involved with the community?

This is my 12th year as a parent at Roseville Community School. I have served on the board of directors for many years, and as a parent I have volunteered in various capacities.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

Our teachers really know children and honor who they are, while at the same time, use teaching methods that speak to each individual student.

What is the origin of the school?

Our school is an outgrowth of Roseville Community Preschool and is based on the philosophy that director Bev Bos embraces, which is: Children learn through play, interaction, problem solving, exploration and discovery. And, cooperation is more conducive to learning than competition.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

Children that graduate from Roseville Community School leave with an authentic understanding of self and a deep knowledge of core academic subjects. We have pride in sending capable, life-long learners into the world. We have been dedicated to this accomplishment since 1992.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

Tough times on our campus call for class or whole-school meetings where the children brainstorm solutions to a current issue and work together to create a viable and acceptable plan for dealing with the problem.

What’s your favorite Roseville Community School memory?

RCS has many traditions that are an integral part of our community and learning philosophy. My favorite memories are tied to two such events. Seeing the children sharing their stories in front of the community on Authors’ Night, and watching joyful children squeal with delight on water play day as they drench the teachers with super soakers.
