Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I opened Nice Twice in 1979, after buying and selling at a shop in Sacramento. Roseville didn’t have any consignment shops and I thought one would do well.
What was your first job, and what did you learn from the experience?
At age 16, I worked after school and on weekends as an invoice clerk at a Christmas card company. Working there taught me that reliability and attention to detail are paramount in any job.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
The staff at Nice Twice is a dynamic group of seven who know our merchandise inside out and can help you find what you are looking for immediately – always with a smile and a gracious attitude. We value our customers.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
My children and grandchildren; and the longevity of Nice Twice – 31 years and counting!
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
To visit my daughter Krista, and her three-year-old twins, Nick and Ella.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Sleeping late! The shop doesn’t open until 10 a.m. and I am so not a morning person.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
Strings Italian Cafe.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Playing “dress up” with my friend Margie when we were seven or eight years old.
What’s your favorite local event that you go to?
I love our two annual parades – Fourth of July and the holiday parade on Vernon Street.
What’s your favorite local business other than your own?
Trader Joe’s and Ace Hardware.
And finally, customer service is…?
Giving each customer the time and attention he or she wants. Some want a lot of help choosing an outfit, while others are content to shop on their own. It’s being helpful without being intrusive.
Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Wendy Sipple at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
