Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

We’re a local on-line marketplace where you can buy, sell and trade just about anything. This is also a great resource to find local vendors and services, camps, sports leagues, sports training, etc. I created the site to meet a need in our community.

What was your first job, and what did you learn from the experience?

The first job I ever had was managing the snack bar at our local tennis club. I learned a great deal about organization, planning ahead for events that would require more food, and most of all, the power of excellent customer service.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

I am the only staff, and because the site is unique and more user-friendly and local than Craigslist or eBay, we are the best at what we do.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Parenting my two wonderful boys, ages 9 and 11.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

Bill Gates – he took a garage business to the heights of success and never lost his sense of reality; he is a huge philanthropist and never stops giving back.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

To hole number six at Granite Bay Golf Club – at sundown – to hear the birds, soak in the beauty, enjoy the quiet and watch a beautiful sunset.

What’s your hidden talent?

Perseverance. I’m very driven to make something successful.

What’s your biggest job perk?

I have more time with my family by running my business from home.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

Folsom Lake for boating, golfing with the family or mountain biking.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

Mahatma Gandhi for his incredible spirituality and political prowess, and his belief in non-violent resistance and kindness to all. He believed the way people behave is more important than what they achieve.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

Eureka County Fair.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

The Fountains in Roseville, or Merchant Bank for their incredible customer service.

If you could be any other profession what would it be?

A professional golfer.

And finally, customer service is…?

The most important aspect of any business; it is a dying art. If more businesses focused on service, they would still be in business.
